Summary: Kristen Bell is not at all sure what to expect the first day she presents herself at the lot in Los Angeles on a hot morning in July for her first day of filming Heroes. She's been giving herself a combination of pep talks and lectures ever since she was cast: You are not the star. You are not gutsy, sassy, and determined. You are flirty, confused, possibly good or possibly bad. You are no longer Veronica Mars.
Notes: The title comes from the song "New Version of You," which was used as the Felicity theme after I stopped watching it, but actually, try not think of the song as you're reading.

This was written for waltzingalong for femslash08. I have never seen a full episode of Heroes and I didn't use a Heroes-picker, so if anyone wants to contribute on that front, I welcome concrit, of the "Um, Ali Larter actually goes by Alison in real life" variety.

Characters are Joanna Campbell's. Emily and Mrs. Townsend are mine, because I am intensely curious about what happened to "Townsend's daughter" who used to trail-ride Dominator before she got married, and Brad's other parent, who sent Caro the flowers after the car accident.

I've kept Brad and Lavinia's son as Ross, because until book #24 came out, his name was Ross - then he magically turned into Parker, and I've always resented that. Laura Townsend only appears in ACM, which I prefer to most of the new-generation canon, but in that way the story is AU.
